Isophoric News is a free daily news site for Oswego, New York. It covers the City of Oswego and Oswego County first, then New York State, the nation and the world. There are also sections for technology, the economy, sports, science and health, a daily weather briefing and a live weather radar.
It is free to read, with no sign-up and no paywall.
Who publishes it
Isophoric News is published by Isophoric I.T. and Isophoric Studios of Oswego, New York. They also make the Oswego Crier app, LogiMaps and the free remote job search on this site. See the portfolio for the rest of their work and Summary of Services for the IT business.
The newsroom
Every story carries the byline of the desk that wrote it.
- Editor: C. Fletcher
- News: D. Marlowe, covering every section from the City of Oswego to International, plus technology, the economy, sports, science and health.
- Weather: Shepherd S., who writes the daily weather briefing and keeps the radar.
- The Nutter: T.F. Shaw
How stories are put together
- Every news story links to its sources. The outlets are named in the story, and the links under it read "Source", or "Source A, B, C" when there are several.
- Every edition is reviewed by the publisher before it goes on the site.
- Pictures are credited with their photographer and licence. A picture that does not show the story's own subject is captioned "Representative image".
- A story that ran in an earlier edition says so. When a section has nothing new, it shows its most recent stories, each marked with the edition it first ran in.
Corrections
A correction is published as a new version of the edition. The earlier version stays on the site and can still be read, so nothing changes silently. To report an error, email info@isophoric.com with the story's link.
The Nutter
The Nutter is a fiction section: comedy, made up from start to finish, and labeled as fiction under its section title. Its pieces never appear among the news, and they cite no sources because they report nothing.
