Ukrainian drone attack sets St. Petersburg oil facilities ablaze; one person killed

Ukrainian drones hit St. Petersburg overnight into Sunday, setting fire to an oil terminal and an oil depot, killing one person and injuring five, according to the city's governor, Alexander Beglov, as reported by Reuters, the BBC and AP. Beglov said 12 apartment buildings were damaged and flights at Pulkovo Airport were restricted; Ozon, a Russian online retailer, said a drone hit its logistics hub, with no injuries, and VK said its data center was targeted but services were running. Russia's Defense Ministry said it shot down 1,015 Ukrainian drones overnight, and AFP reports that state media called it the largest attack on the city since the war began in 2022. Ukraine had not commented, the BBC said; President Volodymyr Zelensky said Saturday that Russia had hit Ukraine's energy sector 76 times since an energy ceasefire last week, and a resident, Galina, 58, told AFP, "They're attacking, we're attacking — it's become the dreadful routine of war."
