Air Force officer dies after fall during pregame display before UTSA-Navy game
An Air Force officer died after falling from the rafters of the Alamodome while rappelling during a pregame display before the University of Texas at San Antonio's home game against Navy on Saturday, the Guardian reported. Nellis Air Force Base said he was part of the 6th Combat Training Squadron, which the Guardian says helps train military members to rappel from helicopters; he has not been named. He was treated on the field and taken to a hospital, where he later died, and the start of the game was delayed about 10 minutes. UTSA said it was "deeply saddened" and sent its "heartfelt thoughts and prayers" to the soldier, his family and his military colleagues.
