Brewers get seven days off before World Series; history on rest is split, MLB.com says
The Milwaukee Brewers will have seven full days of rest before Game 1 of the World Series on Oct. 23, their longest layoff since spring training and the second-longest for any pennant winner since the league championship series went to best-of-seven in 1985, MLB.com reported. Since the postseason expanded to three rounds in 1995, teams with extra rest entering the World Series are 15-15, MLB.com says, while the team that clinched its pennant first is 4-12 in the Fall Classic since 2009. The Brewers are the 12th team to reach the World Series by sweeping a best-of-seven league championship series, and MLB.com says only four of the previous 11 won the title, though the last three to do it, in 2019, 2022 and 2025, did. MLB.com concludes there is no conclusive answer on rest versus rust.
