Cat and dog adoption fees covered Monday as 42 rescued cats in Catskill await treatment and homes

Forty-two rescued cats and kittens in Catskill need treatment, food and homes as a local shelter handles a large intake tied to an animal cruelty investigation, WNYT reported. The Columbia Green Humane Society said the rescue is part of an ongoing investigation and that the added intake has put considerable demand on its resources; 23 of the 42 are kittens, and many arrived underweight, sick and suffering from parasites. Starting Monday, dog and cat adoption fees will be covered through the Subaru Loves Pets program, and the rescued cats will be included once they are medically cleared. The shelter is asking for donations toward treatment and food, and for help finding the animals new homes.
