Medal of Honor Museum in Texas honors Oswego native Dr. Mary Walker
The National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, Texas, is honoring Dr. Mary Walker, a native of the town of Oswego and the only woman to receive the Medal of Honor, ahead of her birthday in November, Oswego County News Now reported. Walker, born Nov. 26, 1832, in Oswego, was a Civil War surgeon, prisoner of war and women's rights advocate, the paper said.
