State promises more than $14 million toward a public sewer system in the Adirondack town of Elizabethtown

A state water infrastructure program this week promised more than $14 million toward building a public sewer system in Elizabethtown, the Adirondack Explorer reported. The project is estimated at just over $38 million, according to Elizabethtown Supervisor Cathleen Reusser, and the Explorer says Elizabethtown is the only county seat in New York without a municipal sewer system. The town hopes to fund construction entirely through grants, leaving the new system's roughly 450 users to pay for operation and maintenance, the report said, and Reusser said she hopes to have funding and designs ready for bidding by the end of next year.
