Chrome adds scam warnings, including for ClickFix attacks, for users who turn on Enhanced Protection

Google said in a blog post Tuesday that Chrome is adding warnings for suspicious websites and for ClickFix attacks for users who enable Enhanced Protection, CNET and ZDNet reported. Chrome will show a "This site doesn't seem right" overlay for suspicious sites, with an option to mark the site as safe, and a full red warning page for sites Google deems dangerous, CNET reported. Google said it is moving scam detection to a more capable server-side Gemini model and that page content sent off the device is "never logged, retained or used to train models," according to BleepingComputer, which quoted Google. For ClickFix, in which a site tricks users into pasting malicious commands, Chrome will warn when it detects an Enhanced Protection user copying a suspicious command, The Hacker News reported. CNET noted that Enhanced Protection is opt-in and involves sharing additional browsing data with Google.
