Oswego County Traffic Safety Board assisted six city schools on National Walk to School Day
The Oswego County Traffic Safety Board assisted six schools in the city of Oswego on National Walk to School Day, Oct. 7, according to a county release. Students walked from a planned starting point to the front doors of Fitzhugh Park, Kingsford Park, Leighton, Minetto and Charles E. Riley elementary schools and Trinity Catholic School. The release said volunteers included the county Health Department, county STOP-DWI, Mayor Robert Corradino and the Oswego Police Department. Corradino said in the release that walking together helps students build healthy habits and learn to move through their neighborhoods safely. The release also cited preliminary 2025 data showing that Oswego County had 22 pedestrian crashes, one of them fatal. It said the board works with schools across the county on presentations, activities and tabling at school events. The board's coordinator, Gavin Wandersee, is the listed contact.
