Oswego County's Early Childhood Alliance and Youth Bureau donate 50 parenting books to every public library
The Oswego County Early Childhood Alliance and the Oswego County Youth Bureau bought 50 new books on parenting and early childhood development and donated them to every public library in the county, according to a county release. The titles cover topics including raising a child with autism, ADHD, Down syndrome or a vision or hearing impairment, fertility issues, the loss of a child, and breaking cycles of generational trauma. Doreen Bergman, director of the Fulton Public Library, said in the release that the donation will give local families reliable information and tools. Each library also has information about Oswego County Help Me Grow's free developmental screening questionnaires, the release said. Caregivers of children aged 2 months through 5.5 years can use a QR code displayed at each library to complete one at no cost, and Help Me Grow says it will contact them within one to two business days to review the results. The release named libraries in Central Square, Fulton, Hannibal, Mexico, Oswego, Pulaski, Phoenix, Parish, Williamstown, Orwell-Cogswell and Sandy Creek. The contact is Sidney Carter at 315-343-2344, ext. 113.
