Trump says there will be no US strike on Iran "today" as Netanyahu says Iran and its allies could try to disrupt Tuesday's Israeli election
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video released by his office on Sunday that Israel has "intelligence signs" that Iran and its proxies could attack in order to disrupt the election, and warned Iran against testing Israel, according to The Hindu (AP) and The Times of India, which carry the same text. The Hindu added that Netanyahu has campaigned on his security record, that he posted an AI generated image of a mushroom cloud over Tel Aviv with text calling Iran an existential threat, and that earlier in the week he said he had directed security forces to topple Iran's clerical state. The Jerusalem Post reported that Netanyahu claimed Israel faces a real and tangible existential danger from Iran and that only a small window remains to act. President Trump, asked whether a US attack could come on Sunday, said "There will not be a strike today," and said he must decide whether to finish the job or reach an agreement, The Jerusalem Post reported. The Jerusalem Post also cited unnamed US officials as saying a strike was a matter of "when," and an assessment that Trump would wait until after the Nov. 3 US midterms; none of these officials is named and I could not check the claim.
