Twelve people injured, six of them juveniles, in shooting near Florida A&M University after homecoming game
Twelve people were injured, including six juveniles, in a shooting near Florida A&M University's Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee on Saturday evening, shortly after the school's homecoming football game, according to ABC News, CBS News and the Guardian. Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell said eleven people had gunshot wounds and the twelfth, a grandmother of one of the victims, hurt herself fleeing, ABC News reported. Revell said the youngest victim was 11. By Sunday morning police said six victims remained hospitalized, one in critical condition, and five had been released, according to ABC News and CBS News. ABC News quoted Revell as saying eight victims were in stable condition, while a police statement cited by CBS News and the Guardian said nine. Police said no arrests had been made as of Sunday and that they were working to identify those responsible, according to all three outlets. CBS News and ABC News reported that police said a fight or altercation preceded the shooting. The Guardian reported that Revell said police believed it was an isolated incident between two or three people and involved one shooter, and that he said police did not yet know exactly what happened. FAMU President Marva Johnson said in a video statement that the shooting did not happen on campus and that the school was offering counseling, ABC News reported.
