Rodgers says the NFL once discussed an international week with 16 games abroad, and wants teams to arrive earlier

After the Steelers' 16-10 win in Paris, Aaron Rodgers said the NFL and its players' union once discussed a week in which all 16 games would be played in 16 different places around the world, with an extra bye week for each team, CBS Sports reported. Rodgers said the idea died when owners pushed for a 17th regular-season game for extra revenue, which began in 2021 according to CBS. The outlets differ on the negotiation: CBS said the talks were around the 2020 collective bargaining agreement, Sky Sports quoted Rodgers recalling talk of more international games in the 2011 agreement and the international week later, and Awful Announcing said two bargaining cycles ago. Rodgers also said the league should require teams to arrive in the host city on Sunday or Monday, with events and community work, and said he did not expect that because owners are a little tight with money, per all three outlets. Rodgers named Canada, Mexico, Brazil, other parts of South America, Europe and Dubai as possible hosts, according to Sky. None of the three pages carries a response from the NFL or team owners.
