Veterans on Honor Flight Rochester's Mission 99 returned to Rochester on Sunday after spending the weekend touring Washington, D.C., WHEC reported. The group included two Korean War veterans, one Cold War veteran, one Cold War and Vietnam veteran, nine Vietnam veterans and 46 veterans from after 1975, and by branch 17 Air Force, 22 Army, four Marine Corps and 16 Navy veterans. As of Sunday, 5,136 veterans had been flown by Honor Flight since 2008, according to WHEC. Willie Lightfoot Sr., an Air Force veteran, told WHEC the trip coincided with a celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Desert Shield and Desert Storm memorial. His son, Willie Lightfoot Jr., who went as his father's mission guardian, said it was an honor to take him and to see him reconnect with people.
