iFixit gives the iPhone Duo a provisional repairability score of 5 out of 10 and suggests possible causes for reported screen failures

iFixit published a teardown of the iPhone Duo on Sunday, and MacRumors, 9to5Mac and The Verge all reported a provisional repairability score of 5 out of 10, which 9to5Mac and The Verge said is the highest the site has given a foldable phone. 9to5Mac said the score is provisional pending the availability of replacement parts. MacRumors said the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Pixel 11 Pro Fold each scored 4 out of 10, and that iFixit cited a repair manual from day one, an outer display that comes off intact, and battery adhesive that releases with an electrical charge. iFixit's dust test left the hinge making a crunching sound, but MacRumors and The Verge reported that less dust reached the Duo's hinge than the Fold8's or the Pixel's. On the reports of screens failing, 9to5Mac said owners have described a crunch while folding followed by bright lines across the inner display. MacRumors said iFixit listed pressure, a trapped particle, repeated bending or a manufacturing defect as possible causes, and that iFixit's 3D model, built from teardown footage, patents and CT scans, put the breaks near where a flex cable crosses the central hinge support. 9to5Mac said the teardown does not definitively establish a cause. The Verge said Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and separately reported that a YouTuber, CuriousHagi, reproduced a cracked screen during durability testing and found that a thinner hinge link had snapped at a small notch; that is the YouTuber's finding as The Verge described it. None of the pages I read gave a count of how many phones have failed.
