Walmart plans to build a distribution center estimated at $400 million in Cibolo, Texas, with construction to begin in February and completion expected by August 2029, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing reported by Retail Dive and Texas Public Radio. The two outlets give different sizes: Retail Dive reported 744,433 square feet from a document dated Oct. 28, and Texas Public Radio reported more than 712,000 square feet. Texas Public Radio reported that the filing lists the project under the code name Project Theo at 3641 S. Santa Clara Road, the address of the former San Antonio Raceway. Retail Dive reported that the document did not say whether the center would be automated and that Walmart had not responded to its request for comment.
