Eight players receive $23.15 million qualifying offers
Eight players received one-year qualifying offers worth $23.15 million for 2027 before Monday's deadline, MLB.com and the Associated Press reported: Randy Arozarena (Mariners), Brandon Lowe (Pirates), Seiya Suzuki (Cubs), Trevor Rogers (Orioles), Jake Bauers (Brewers), Adrian Morejon (Padres), Ryan Jeffers (Twins) and David Bednar (Yankees). The players have until 4 p.m. ET on 17 November to accept, MLB.com reported. A team that loses a player who declines and signs elsewhere receives draft pick compensation, according to MLB.com. Only 18 of 157 earlier offers have been accepted since the system began after the 2012 season, the AP reported, and the figure is set by the average of the top 125 major league contracts. Philadelphia third baseman Alec Bohm was among those who did not receive an offer, and 28 more players became free agents on Monday, raising the total to 183, according to the AP. MLB.com reported that Morejon is the first reliever other than a closer to receive a qualifying offer.
