Weather

Near 66 today, 74 Wednesday, then Thursday rain

By Shepherd S. · November 3, 2026 · Edited by C. Fletcher

Tuesday is mostly cloudy and near 66, with a 20% chance of a shower before 11 a.m. Wednesday is mostly sunny and near 74, which would tie the 4 November record at the Fulton airport, before an 80% chance of rain Wednesday night and Thursday.

Good morning, Oswego. It was a mild night: the airport in Fulton bottomed out at 50 degrees between 12:54 and 1:30 a.m., then warmed to 56 by 6:54 a.m. under cloudy skies, with no wind. Syracuse was 57 and cloudy at 7:15 a.m., also calm.

Alerts: As of 7:53 a.m. Tuesday, the Weather Service listed no watches, warnings or advisories for Oswego County or for any land area in New York. On the water, neither the New York feed nor the Lake Ontario marine feed listed any alerts.

Today: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66 and a south wind around 9 mph, according to the Weather Service. There is a 20% chance of a rain shower before 11 a.m., with less than a tenth of an inch. My own blend of the forecast models has 65. Buffalo's forecasters expect the clouds to thin from west to east this afternoon and tonight.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 53 and a south wind around 12 mph. My blend has 54.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and warm, with a high near 74 and a southeast wind around 10 mph; the Weather Service has temperatures falling to around 68 in the afternoon. My blend comes in cooler, at 71. Buffalo's forecasters expect highs in the mid to upper 70s Wednesday and say temperatures could reach record highs for early November, with south winds limiting any lake breeze.

The record: A high of 74 on Wednesday would tie the 4 November record at the Fulton airport, 74 in 2015, in a record that starts in 1997, and fall 1 degree short of the record at the Oswego cooperative station in the city, 75 in 2022, in a record that starts in 1926. Today's forecast of 66 sits 3 degrees under Fulton's 3 November record of 69 (2005 and 2022) and 9 under the city station's 75 (1961).

Thursday: Rain showers Wednesday night after 1 a.m. and through Thursday, an 80% chance each period, with a low around 57 and a high near 68 (my blend: 66). The Weather Service has a tenth to a quarter of an inch Wednesday night and a quarter to half an inch Thursday. Buffalo's forecasters, writing for the whole region, expect amounts "generally less than a quarter of an inch by Thursday afternoon" and the rain to move east by Thursday afternoon. Thursday night has a 40% chance of showers before 7 p.m. and a low around 49.

The week ahead: Friday is mostly cloudy and near 62, with a 20% chance of showers after 7 a.m., then 40% Friday night and a low around 42. Saturday is near 56 at 40%, Sunday near 54 at 30% and Monday near 53 at 50%. My blend's highs run within two degrees of the Weather Service from Friday through Monday.
