Weather

A warmer day than forecast, and the dry streak rolls on

Monday beat the forecast, reaching the mid-60s. A mostly clear, milder night follows, then a sunny, breezier Tuesday near 59, and fair weather lasts all week.

Good evening, Oswego. That was a better day than the forecast promised. The Weather Service had us near 61, and the airport in Fulton reached 66 by mid-afternoon, with Syracuse at 68, all under clear skies. It's quite a swing from this morning, when Fulton touched 32 at daybreak.

Alerts: As of 5:24 p.m. Monday, the Weather Service listed no watches, warnings or advisories for Oswego County or anywhere else in New York. This morning's Frost Advisories west and south of us have expired.

Tonight: Mostly clear and milder than last night, with a low around 45 and a light northwest wind, according to the Weather Service.

Tuesday: Sunny and a few degrees cooler, with a high near 59 and a north wind of 8 to 13 mph. My own blend of the forecast models comes out at 57. Tuesday night turns clear and chilly again, down to about 38.

The week ahead: Buffalo's forecasters see high pressure over the eastern U.S. all week, with fair weather and temperatures near to slightly above normal. The Weather Service has highs of 57 to 58 on Wednesday and Thursday, then near 53 on Friday. My blend runs a little cooler at the end of the week, near 48 on Friday, before rebounding to about 60 by Sunday. None of the models shows a real chance of rain through the weekend.
