Sunshine and a north breeze, with the dry streak rolling on

A chilly start near 36 in Fulton gives way to a sunny afternoon near 59. Clear and cold tonight, then more sunshine all week, with temperatures recovering toward the low 60s by the weekend.

Good morning, Oswego. Another crisp one to start the day: Fulton's airport dipped to about 36 before sunrise, with a little fog early on that burned off by 6 a.m. Syracuse was right there at 36, too. Both stations are clear and calm now, with Fulton at 41 and Syracuse at 36 as of half past seven this morning.

Alerts: As of 7:47 a.m. Tuesday, the Weather Service listed no watches, warnings or advisories for Oswego County or for any land area in New York. On the water, the Buffalo office has a Small Craft Advisory for parts of Lake Ontario until 4 p.m., covering waters east of Hamlin Beach.

Today: Sunny, with a high near 59 and a north wind of 9 to 13 mph, according to the Weather Service. My own blend of the forecast models runs a few degrees cooler, near 55.

Tonight: Clear and cold, with a low around 36 and a light northeast wind, 3 to 12 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny again, with a high near 57 from the Weather Service (my blend says 55) and a light east wind around 5 mph. Wednesday night drops to about 42 under mostly clear skies.

The week ahead: High pressure over the eastern U.S. keeps things dry and mostly sunny all week. Buffalo's forecasters see temperatures near to slightly above normal. The Weather Service has highs of 58 on Thursday, 54 on Friday, then a climb back to the low 60s by the weekend. My blend runs a few degrees cooler through midweek — near 55 on Thursday, 49 on Friday — but agrees on the weekend rebound, reaching about 60 by Sunday. None of the models shows any real rain chance through the week.
