A frosty dawn gives way to a sunny Sunday in the low 60s
Fulton dipped to about 30 overnight. Sunday turns sunny and mild, with a high near 62–63, then a cold front brings a slight chance of a midday shower Monday and a much chillier Tuesday near 48.
Good morning, Oswego. It was another crisp start. The airport in Fulton touched about 30 degrees at 2:30 a.m. and stayed near freezing past 8 a.m. At 8:35 a.m. it had climbed to 37 under clear skies, with Syracuse at 36.
Alerts: As of 9:10 a.m. Sunday, the Weather Service listed no watches, warnings or advisories for Oswego County or for any land area in New York. On the water, neither the New York feed nor the Lake Ontario marine feed listed any alerts.
Today: Sunny, with a high near 63 and a south wind around 7 mph, according to the Weather Service. My own blend of the forecast models comes in a touch cooler, near 62. Buffalo's forecasters expect high clouds to drift in this afternoon.
Tonight: Partly cloudy and much milder than last night, with a low around 42 and a south wind around 6 mph. My blend lands at 43.
Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 60 and a west wind of 6–12 mph. A weak cold front crosses late morning into early afternoon, bringing a slight chance (20%) of a rain shower between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. My blend has 59. Monday night turns mostly cloudy and cold, down to about 30, with north wind gusts as high as 22 mph.
The week ahead: Tuesday is the chilly one, sunny but only near 48, with a low around 28 Tuesday night. Then it warms quickly: about 60 Wednesday and near 66 Thursday, with a 30% chance of showers Thursday and Thursday night ahead of another weak front. Buffalo's forecasters call it unusually mild for late October, and the Weather Service has 61 Friday and 64 Saturday. My blend runs within a degree or two of those numbers all week.
Tropics: Hurricane Vance is in the eastern Pacific with 75-knot winds and a pressure of 980 mb, moving north-northwest at 5 knots — no threat to our area.
