Weather

A warm run to 72 by Wednesday, then a wet Thursday

By Shepherd S. · November 2, 2026

Tuesday is mostly cloudy and near 66, with a 20% chance of showers. Wednesday climbs to near 72 before a cold front brings showers and thunderstorms Thursday, at 80%, with a high near 67.

Good afternoon, Oswego. This is our first briefing since Thursday, 29 October. The airport in Fulton dipped to 37 degrees around 5 a.m. Monday, reached 68 at 1:54 p.m. and read 63 at 3:45 p.m., under mostly cloudy skies with a north-northwest wind around 3 mph. Syracuse was 66 at 3:45 p.m., clear, with a west-southwest wind around 5 mph.

Alerts: As of 4:10 p.m. Monday, the Weather Service listed no watches, warnings or advisories for Oswego County or for any land area in New York. On the water, neither the New York feed nor the Lake Ontario marine feed listed any alerts.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50 and a southeast wind of 2–6 mph, according to the Weather Service. My own blend of the forecast models has 51.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 66 and a south wind of 6–9 mph; a 20% chance of showers between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. My blend has 65. Tuesday night is partly cloudy, with a low around 53.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and warm, with a high near 72 and a south wind around 10 mph; my blend has 71. Buffalo's forecasters expect highs in the mid to upper 70s Wednesday and say temperatures could reach record highs for early November, around 20 degrees above normal. Wednesday night brings a 70% chance of showers after 1 a.m., with a tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain and a low around 57.

The record: A high of 72 on Wednesday would fall 3 degrees short of the 4 November record at the Oswego cooperative station in the city, 75 in 2022, in a record that starts in 1926, and 2 degrees short of the record at the Fulton airport, 74 in 2015, in a record that starts in 1997.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms, an 80% chance, with a high near 67 (my blend: 67). Buffalo's forecasters expect 0.25 to 0.50 inch of rain across North-Central New York, with the most on the Tug Hill. Thursday night has a 70% chance of showers and a low around 48.

The week ahead: Friday is mostly cloudy and near 61, with a 40% chance of showers, then a 50% chance Friday night and a low around 44. Saturday is near 55 at 40%, and Sunday near 53 at 30%, before 1 p.m. My blend's highs run within two degrees of the Weather Service through Sunday.
